Marathi Day Celebrated at St. Francis High School

Marathi Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at St. Francis High School, Rane Nagar. The programme was organized under the guidance of the Founder President, Dr. Augustine Pinto, and Foundress President, Dr. Grace Pinto.

The event was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, Mr. Haridas Chaudhary, Marathi teacher of the Secondary Section at Jaju Vidyalaya. His presence added dignity to the occasion.

The programme began with a prayer to Lord Jesus followed by a reading from the Holy Bible. A melodious prayer song was then presented by the students. Students from Std. VI to IX performed various cultural programmes and captivated the audience. A dance performance was presented by the students of Std. VI. Student Tejal Patil delivered a speech highlighting the importance of the Marathi language.

On the occasion of the birth anniversary of eminent poet Kusumagraj, which is observed as Marathi Day, various competitions such as poetry writing, extempore speech, and essay writing were organized. Students participated enthusiastically in these competitions. The winners were awarded certificates at the hands of the Chief Guest.

Tree plantation was also carried out in the school premises by the dignitaries. In his speech, the Chief Guest emphasized that while respecting other languages, we must also uphold and honor our rich and classical Marathi language.

The programme was made successful due to the dedicated efforts of the Headmistress, Mrs. Manju Patil, Section Head Mrs. Bhagyashree Marathe, Mrs. Shital Chincholikar, and other members of the teaching staff.
